Recipe: Bananas Foster

Recipe: Bananas Foster

Vanilla Bean ice cream
Rum
Bananas
Dark Brown sugar
Butter

I need to get the exact recipe from my friend. He's an amazing cook. :) This was so delicious. From what I saw you cut up the bananas. Throw the butter, dark brown sugar together. Pour in some rum. Then try to light the rum on fire! :) It didn't exactly work as planned but the alcohol did burn off leaving the sweet taste of rum. Scoop over vanilla bean ice cream and serve immediately. I will update this recipe once I get full details but for now you can look at this delicious dessert. I really enjoyed it. This is the first time I've had it. :)

I didn't know this dessert had a fancy name! :) I know what you mean, but haven't mastered the art of setting the rum on fire mysef!

I like to add bananas to my ice cream too. Somehow it makes eating ice-cream less sinful!

Eating your ice-cream already? You are fast into summer even when it's just spring. Can have banana split fosters :D

I'll do without the rum. Cant take the risk of setting a fire in my small kitchen. :-)

I love ordering bananas flambe where they light up the bananas at the table. I kept ordering it in VN, but they always flambed it in the kitchen! Hmph! Don't they understand the flames are the best part?

This is one of my favorite desserts! I add a bit of lime juice as well. Flaming isn't that hard -- if you want to control it a bit more, pour the alcohol into a small ladle, flame the alcohol that's in the ladle, then pour it onto the bananas.

Suanne, it's not dangerous at all, don't worry. The flames are confined to where the alcohol is, so as long as you don't pour alcohol all over your kitchen, you'll be fine :D

The dessert sounds nice but I'm afraid of setting my kitchen on fire as well!

I really like bananas with ice cream. :D This is definitely not a dessert I would make myself, though, because of the fire aspect. I'm too afraid! Haha.

PS - I'm pretty sure it's called bananas foster. ;)
